For Gerard who is in serious need of some color today…
I found this drawing in a stack of paper in my studio. The birds may be part of a new story to come…
Today my parents would have had their birthdays. My father would have turned 90 years old and my mother 93. They are still missed a lot. But today we also remember what they gave us. For instance they gave us a whole bunch of brothers and sisters with whom we can share life and memories. But they also gave us a way of looking at life like it is a colorful road, where there is a lot of interesting stuff and people to see and where stories are spread all over the place.
I am forever grateful for that. Thanks Mom and Dad!
It is quiet in the house so early in the morning. I hear the birds sing. No, it is not singing, it sounds more like chattering:
‘How did you sleep, love?’
‘Quite well, actually. The cat of the neighbours scared the shit out of me only once this night.’
‘Good for you! Well, have a nice day, love!’
‘You too! Kiss, kiss!’
‘Have a nice cup of tea, love!’
I made this one in honour of Heather and Jan, who came to visit me the other day. We had a conversation about the friendlyness in the English language.
This is a paper collage and drawing in which I later put some of my patterns. I reworked that again digital. A whole lot of work for one image and I think there is some more work to do on this one. It is funny: the more I know about drawing, scanning and digital reworking the longer it takes to finish a piece of art.
I found this on the back of a painting today. It fits the day perfectly. Here is what is says:
I hear the dove
I see some glittering of the sun
The still bare tree,
Filled to the brim with life…
Every Thursday children, students and other youth go on strike and walk the streets of several cities in Europe to ask the politicians to take fierce actions to save the planet.
I call that: working on your future. Go kids, go!
