I found this drawing in a stack of paper in my studio. The birds may be part of a new story to come…
It is quiet in the house so early in the morning. I hear the birds sing. No, it is not singing, it sounds more like chattering:
‘How did you sleep, love?’
‘Quite well, actually. The cat of the neighbours scared the shit out of me only once this night.’
‘Good for you! Well, have a nice day, love!’
‘You too! Kiss, kiss!’
This one, with all the gold, the red and the black is a bit cheesy, I guess. I’ll post it anyhow. After all it is Christmas time, so some oversweetness is allowed, don’t you think so?
The bird and the church, for me they seem like opposites from eachother. The bird representing freedom and the church representing strict rules and oppression.
But I am also atracted to churches, especially the old ones. Their many beautiful details, so carefully designed and crafted speak to me a lot. Like this churchdoor, that belongs to the Saint Pieterschurch in Leyden. I love the color of the door, the window above it and the posts around the door.

Wherever I go, I always take my artmaking stuff with me. This sketch is from a couple of weeks ago, while I was waiting in the car for G.
