I just finished a masterclass with Marenthe. Two days filled with information and inspiration, contact with fellow makers and Marenthe as our radiating teacher. But also filled with confusion that seems to belong to a happening like this. At least for me.
So today is for letting it all sink in through doodling, relaxing, making art and taking a nap.
For Gerard who is in serious need of some color today…
I found this drawing in a stack of paper in my studio. The birds may be part of a new story to come…
Today my parents would have had their birthdays. My father would have turned 90 years old and my mother 93. They are still missed a lot. But today we also remember what they gave us. For instance they gave us a whole bunch of brothers and sisters with whom we can share life and memories. But they also gave us a way of looking at life like it is a colorful road, where there is a lot of interesting stuff and people to see and where stories are spread all over the place.
I am forever grateful for that. Thanks Mom and Dad!
The girl that did not get the Valentine-card…
I found this on the back of a painting today. It fits the day perfectly. Here is what is says:
I hear the dove
I see some glittering of the sun
The still bare tree,
Filled to the brim with life…
In 1999 I wrote a small story that accompagnied a couple of sketches like the second one you see here. Over the years I have rewritten and redrawn this story time and time again. Two years ago I was sure it was finished and ready for publication.
However I am working on it again. In the 2019 version the second image is replaced with the first one.
It is time to wrap this baby up, Eyck!
